Faces of First-Gen at UGA
Celebrating, connecting, and amplifying first-generation voices at the University of Georgia.

Context & Motivation.
Faces of First-Gen at UGA is a digital storytelling platform created to highlight the experiences of first-generation students, faculty, and alumni at the University of Georgia. Developed independently, the project combines research, writing, visual design, and web development to create a space where stories can be shared, seen, and valued.
The idea was born from a personal experience: navigating a new environment without guidance and understanding how difficult it can be to find a sense of belonging. Many first-generation students face similar challenges, yet there was no centralized platform to represent their voices.

Execution & Outcome.
To address this, I designed and developed a storytelling blog that collects and presents narratives from students, alumni, faculty, and staff. The platform blends structured layouts, strong typography, and curated visuals to create a clear and engaging user experience.
From gathering stories to designing the visual identity and building the website on WordPress, the process required balancing emotional storytelling with clarity and usability. The final result is a cohesive platform that not only shares stories, but also builds connection, visibility, and community.
